The Tenants and Landlords: What Would You Do? workshop is an introduction to the different rights and responsibilities of tenants and landlords in Quebec.

Note: This introductory workshop covers some common situations between tenants and landlords, and helps participants understand them. This workshop is recommended for people with little to intermediary knowledge on these topics.

Learning objectives

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • better understand what the law says about some common issues that come up between tenants and landlords,
  • consider the pros and cons of different solutions to these common issues, and
  • identify reliable resources for getting more help.

Content

Workshop participants will vote on what they would do as the tenant or the landlord in these scenarios.

  • Scenario 1: Deposits
  • Scenario 2: Rent increases
  • Scenario 3: Moving out early
