Montreal, November 10, 2025 – From November 10 to 14, Éducaloi is holding the sixth edition of Quebec Legal Education Week. Hundreds of high school students across Quebec will take part in introductory law workshops. Offered free of charge and led by volunteer legal professionals, these workshops allow young people to learn more about the law, their rights, and their responsibilities.
This edition is organized with the support of Quebec’s department of justice and is once more sponsored by its minister, Simon Jolin-Barrette.
“It’s an honor to once again sponsor Quebec Legal Education Week. Through this initiative, Éducaloi helps educate elementary and high school students about their rights. Year after year, the young people we meet during the workshops impress us with their quick wit, sharp minds, and curiosity. They are always eager to better understand their rights and responsibilities, especially when it comes to their relationships with peers or their first job. By promoting legal education for all, we help demystify the law and make our justice system more open and accessible — a priority that continues to guide our actions.” – Mr Simon Jolin-Barrette, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Quebec (translated from French)
This year, during Quebec Legal Education Week, more than 220 classes will take part in a workshop across Quebec’s 17 administrative regions, from Montreal to Bonaventure, Côte-Nord to Abitibi, reaching over 5,700 students!

Inspiring the next generation of citizens
The interactive, engaging workshops offered during Quebec Legal Education Week encourage young people to reflect on the role of laws, rights, and institutions in a fair, equitable, and democratic society. They ask questions, debate, and take a stand on concrete issues that directly affect them.
For example:
- Should politicians be able to create any law they want?
- Can the police search my property and social media accounts whenever they want?
- Should cosmetic surgery be banned for teens?
This unique experience helps them develop critical thinking skills, better understand their role in society, and build confidence in their ability to handle legal situations.
“By meeting passionate lawyers, judges, notaries, and paralegals, young people in Quebec discover that law goes beyond the courtroom: it’s a tool for understanding and shaping everyday life. I sincerely thank Quebec’s department of justice for its continued support of this initiative for a sixth year, and all those who share their knowledge. Together, we’re helping to build a fairer society and fight misinformation and the ‘legal hallucinations’ generated by artificial intelligence.”
– Me Frédérick Roussel, Executive Director of Éducaloi (translated from French).

With Éducaloi, legal education is for everyone, all year round
A leader in legal education, Éducaloi has been helping people in Quebec learn about their rights and responsibilities for over 25 years. The organization supports teachers in delivering the Culture and Citizenship in Québec course, which introduces young people to legal concepts to equip them for everyday life. It offers classroom activities, learning tools, and free resources and training to help educators teach this new program with confidence.
In addition to the workshops offered during Quebec Legal Education Week, Éducaloi relies on a network of thousands of volunteer legal professionals to deliver in-class workshops to high school students year-round. These workshops have reached over 123,000 students since they were first offered. Since last year, other workshops have also been offered to the general public through community organizations and libraries.
